Welcome to Eighth Grade ELA!

Congratulations, you have made it to the eighth grade!  Your hard work has paid off so far, but you’re not done yet…  Whether you have me as your Writing & Composition teacher, or are in one of my Academic Enhancement classes, you can expect this year to be challenging (but we will also have a lot of fun along the way).

Where to find information on this website:

• You may contact me a few ways (they’re listed on the contact page).  Email is probably the easiest way to get in touch, feel free to send questions or drafts by email for me to review.  I check my email multiple times during the day, so it’s never too late to send.
• We will be experimenting with Edmodo this year!  It’s a new networking website that’s somewhat like Facebook, but we can use it at school.  More info on this to come, including your all-access secret codes for the website, so keep your eyes peeled…
• Monday Music Prompts (MMP’s) are weekly journal assignments that we will discuss in class each Monday and will be due each Friday.  If you are absent on a Monday, you are still required to complete the MMP, so check the MMP page on this website to get the info.  You can also come see me for more information about the topics!  [If you have a suggestion for a song to use for a MMP, tweet me: @mr_mustin]
• I will publish my lesson plans on this website so that you and your parents can keep up with what’s going on in-class.  If you miss any days, check to see what assignments you’ve missed.  I will also post any helpful links and other resources that will help you in your writing.
• Parents, if you want to be added to my email listserv, please email me at the address below.  I won’t fill your inbox with spam, but I will keep you posted on the happenings in my classes and at the school, and also answer any common questions.  Your involvement and support is EXTREMELY important to your child’s education!
